come on down....

i stitched up the back of a western shirt for a friend of mine to wear to gigs and what-not. barker's his name, obviously. i'm really happy with the way it turned out. i think he is, too. this is a short sleeve, and i'll prob end up doing a long sleever for him, too, and will make the design bigger, so it goes totally across the shoulders. still, a pretty good start, i believe.
you can check him out at http://blog.akbarker.com/.
he's your typical "punk rock, anti-folk, honky-tonk, one-man-band bullshit artist." not so typical really.
though i don't know if i agree with the anti-folk part. i'm sure it's over my head or punk rock or whatever. lol. ;-)

rock on and keep stitchin! i will. (after this move, at least, which will finally happen in a week)

Sublime stitching's forest friends...

i decided to stitch up all the forest friends from sublime stitching on one bag. think they're downstream from the nuclear reactor...

my first "commissioned" piece. lol.

haha. no biggie. this is a really sweet gift i made for a friend to give her sister for her graduation gift. i really enjoyed doing it. my friend had this embroidery growing up that her little sister always loved, so she wanted to do something similar, well, at least with the same little poem, which is very sweet. she gave me her idea, and i went with it. and they all loved it! a very sweet family, indeed.
this is what i was given:

and this is how it turned out:

i had so much fun doing this project, coming up with the design from what i was given. i think maybe that's what i'm good at. i can't really draw my own designs, but if you give me an idea, something to work with, i think it's really exciting to make something out of it! i'm hoping to do more things like this, and i have something in the works, too.

here we go again...

ok, one more pic of the lavender, a better pic, close up.

turn around little guy, turn around...

this is another from the tara mcpherson series, sublime stitching. oh, my god!
this took awhile. i quit for awhile, when i got to the heart and face. and i really don't like to do that. i hate quitting on something i start. so i finally finished it. love the way it turned out. the face seemed to take just as long as the rest of it!
oh, watch out little balloonie! :-/
