crafting craziness
been a crafting fool the past couple of days. added some names to some cute little bags, made a wreath for my grandma, and made my first felt toy, a woodland creature owl from the "Doodle Stitching" book. so cute. did all right for my first one.

swap goodies
look what i got! for the dia de los muertos swap on swap-bot. i think it is very sweet. it's a free-form embroidery from anita(Bastet59) from humble, tx. with extra black fabric to make into a pillow if i want, and i think i will! some holiday cards and floss, too. how nice. :-)

did another swap on swap-bot. this time a day of the dead embroidery swap. hosted by snifferooski, who i got and sent this embroidery to. funny thing is she used the same pattern for her partner, but we both changed them up a bit, so that was cool. kinda crappy pic here but the only one i got. darn it, my camera is broken. maybe i'll get one for myself for christmas, hit up the sales. actually, sure i can get mine fixed. we'll see. anyway, i haven't received my piece yet for the swap. can't wait to get it. hopefully it's not a month late like the last time. but things happen, i know. oh, and it's a pattern by carina. http://www.etsy.com/shop/polkaandbloom
oh, finished a piece for my grandma. she wanted me to make it for her to give her secret santa. it's like one i made for my mom when i first started doing embroidery. here it is. a banner from sublime stitching with the julie west patterns, tattoo letters, and even the flower is from the lisa petrucci patterns with a little heart added. haha. sublime stitching all the way! :-)
cute!
starting on a piece for my friend kat. it'll be a kinda buddha theme. :-)

bat stitch and state fair of texas fun!
i entered a little giveaway on The Cuteness of Curiosity blog for some cute little halloween stitches. i chose the little bat and won! how lucky.
LOOK HOW CUTE!
i love it! and i also love halloween! thanks, kym. :-)
went to the state fair of Texas this weekend. got some free tix for volunteering for my favorite radio station out here, kxt, public radio. it's the best radio station ever! you can check it out online, too. you gotta check it out! indie, alt country, folk, blues, and more. great dj's, great music. i love being part of the street team. http://kxt.org/
oh, and if you want to know how to be the most popular person at the fair, win a chicken hat! 4real. it was a hit! LOL. had fried frito pie. pretty good. a friend had the fried beer, disgusting, all agreed. couple friends had the green goblin:fried pepper filled with guacamole and chicken, good but hard to eat. and of course, you can't go to the state fair without having a CORN DOG! still the best part. :-) oh, and i enjoyed my margarita pouch. it was a fun day, a lot of walking, and then dinner at Ozona in Dallas, great mojitos! good stuff with good peeps!
check out the good times...

again with the free pics. But with a Viper! ooh la la.
the walk back to meg's. nice to live right in the area! skip the traffic/parking mess.
and the fun continued into the night. must be why i actually slept in to about noon today! cray cray!

not quite done...
but i finally finished the hardest part, the face. more specifically the mouth. took several tries. i remembered a pinup face tutorial on the Sublime Stitching Blog, and that helped a lot! simple but so hard to get right. i'm happy with the way it turned out.
:-) just finishing up the border. should be done tomorrow! i stopped working on it for a bit, but now i'm eager to finish!

for melanie
i've had this for awhile. so i decided to send it to my cousin melanie in oregon. i really love this one but had never put it up or anything, so i figured it needed a new home. i was kinda upset that it got a little dirty sitting in the hoop for so long, but you can't tell that much, prob not once it's up on a wall somewhere.
just mailed it off yesterday with another piece i did for swap-bot(a purse--gonna have to do some more of those) and i mailed a postcard to my dear friend kat in germany! it's fun mailing stuff off. and even better to receive stuffs in the mail! what fun! so i'm just finishing up a contest piece for badbird designs(stitched by hand group on flickr). and then i think i must really start thinking about xmas gifts! it'll be here in no time!
CRAZY!

Phat Quarter Movie Swap
so this is what I made for my swap partner in the phat quarter movie swap. one of her fave movies is "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou." (which i love, too!) so i decided that it would be super fun to stitch up the rainbow sea horse. so pretty! and in my last swap on swap-bot, i got some wonderful deep blue sea patterns from katy at sew lovely embroidery with the perfect sea horse pattern! the timing was just perfect. i wanted to put it on blue material or do something with it to look like water, but i ran outta time after working on a contest piece and having my apt flood. but really, it looked too good to mess with once i finished. wanted to get it shipped off to the UK right away! hopefully it's there now or the next few days.

more swap awesomeness
so i'm doing another swap. this one with the phat quarter group on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/groups/phatquarter/
the theme is movies. i received my peice from Shae (shaebay on flickr) and it's pretty amazing. a cross-stitch piece from the movie "Party Monster." this is so cool. the first cross-stitch i've gotten.
Shaebay: What I made for Carrie_76 for the Phat Quarter Movie Swap. It is Seth Green as James St James from the movie Party Monster (2003).
This piece is 5x4 on 22 ct. It used 31 colors and has 8748 stitches.
wow! that's a lot of stitches!
take a look. (i used her pics cause my battery is dead once again in my camera)

pinup swap on swap-bot
look at the wonderful pinup girl i got from katy from Sew Lovely Embroidery! her name is Lolita. :-) and she is gorgeous! this is really amazing. i just sat there and stared at every part of it for about an hour. and i would, of course, be happy with anything or anyone in the swap, but i was secretly hoping it would be Katy. I love Sew Lovely Embroidery! and she threw in some Deep Blue Sea patterns. and it works out perfectly because one of the patterns is exactly what i need for the phat quarter movie swap! How Lovely! oh, and how cute is the squid with and ice cream cone and balloons!?!?
Meet Lolita:

Look at that face! It's just perfect. I love the shading, too.
Thanks soooo much!
Oh, and by the way, here is the pinup I sent out to Sara in Arkansas.
(and it happens to be a Sewlovelyembroidery design. yes, i'm a fan)
What fun! Happy Thursday, y'all!

this was for my first swap-bot swap, a pinup swap.
it's a pattern from Sew Lovely Embroidery. Love them!
I'd been wanting to stitch this one up for awhile and figured this would be a great opportunity for it. Did some color-tinting with pencils, which made the difference! love the way it turned out. :-) though i wish i had a better pic. just a cell phone pic.
